Land Acknowledgment - Evansville

Legacy Lacrosse acknowledges that the land on which we gather, play, and grow the game in Evansville, Indiana is the traditional and ancestral home of Indigenous peoples including the Shawnee, Miami, Potawatomi, Kickapoo, and Illinois Nations.

We also recognize the deep historical significance of the Mississippian culture, whose settlement at Angel Mounds, just east of present-day Evansville, remains one of the most important pre-Columbian Native American sites in North America.

These lands were cared for long before modern development, and they carry the stories, traditions, and resilience of those who came before us. We honor their legacy, their continued presence, and the ongoing contributions of Native peoples across Southern Indiana and beyond.

We are committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive community that acknowledges the past, learns from it, and works toward a more just and equitable future — on and off the field.
