Southern Indiana HS Lacrosse Preview
Spring is upon us..
Lacrosse is once again showing up across the Southern Indiana region with teams starting pre-season practices and preparing for scrimmages and debut games. The 2026 season should bring another great year of lacrosse on both the boys and girls side of the game. Lacrosse continues to gain momentum locally.
We wanted to take a brief but intentional look at the programs in the area competing this season. This overview is meant to highlight the teams, players, and coaches who continue to build the sport locally.
We recognize there are challenges and limitations with providing fully up-to-date and comprehensive information (access to rosters, offseason changes, detailed stats) but plan to do our best in providing information the right way.
HIGH SCHOOL BOYS
Castle Knights
The Knights are guided by longtime head coach Tim Clark, widely regarded as one of the foundational figures of the program and lacrosse in the area. Castle consistently fields competitive teams and this spring will look no different. This roster is filled with guys who have logged varsity minutes and should enter with more experience for this season. This years experience and leadership should allow the Knights to control tempo in games and make a lot of noise in the regular season.
The Knights first game is against Brebeuf Jesuit in Indianapolis on March 7th at 12:00 pm.
Knights to Watch:
Cash Collier, William Sublett, Lance Harris, Sean Yamaguchi, Hart Hoag
Central Bears
The Bears enter this spring with a unique opportunity for growth. Players from Mater Dei will be joining the Bears roster this season providing a boost in depth, which can make a difference in practice and on gameday. The opportunity for players at Mater Dei to continue competing is a positive. Respect for Central welcoming those players to the team and culture. Central has a resurged coaching staff that is enthusiastic about building up the program. This year will be an opportunity for Central to welcome new teammates and find new ways to compete and win ball games.
The Bears open up on March 8th against Gibson Southern at 10:30 am.
Bears players to watch:
Joshua Thackrey, Wyatt Gehlhausen, Tailon Meredith
F.J. Reitz Panthers
The Panthers are gearing up for another season. Reitz returns some strength across every area of the field, which is a notable identity of the team this year. Under the direction of Head Coach Jordan Dietz, the Panthers bring back a strong core of experience contributors from last season and will need to find new ways to dominate the faceoff dot this year. The Panthers have a strong foundation of leaders and a dedicated coaching staff that is ready to compete. Panthers will bolster a strong defensive presence which could be a difference maker for them making big stops this season.
Reitz kicks off the season on March 7th hosting Franklin Community High School at 12:00 pm.

Brayden Toone, Robert Giust, Cale Melton, Malik Greenwell, Gavin Wilson
Gibson Southern Titans
The Titans bring a distinct athleticism and football-driven DNA to the field. Their team is built on physicality and competitiveness. Its obvious the Titans want to take the next step and establish themselves as a consistent force in the state. Led by Jeramie Ott, Gibson Southern is building an organized and disciplined program ready to get results now. They have the ability to take over a game in an instant with their athleticism and will be a great team to watch as they grow each season.

North Huskies
The Huskies enter the season with something you can't easily manufacture. Experience gained early. Many of the players on this roster had an opportunity to get varsity minutes as freshman. Although there may have been some growing pains, it has accelerated their development as a team and they come into this season older and more confident. Players have dedicated a lot of their time in the offseason working to sharpen their stickwork and knowledge of the game. Coach Riley Haynes is prepared to take the reigns of his alma mater this year. This team is ready to prove themselves and they have the pieces to win.

Reitz Memorial Tigers
Memorial has set a strong standard for excellence in the area for lacrosse, and last season they proved that by returning all the way to the 1A state championship after winning it 2024. While they came up just short last year, the experience only adds fuel to their fire for this season. The Tigers return a core of experienced players who have competed at a very high level. Coach Cliff Rogers has an emphasis on structure, being detail-oriented, and providing an environment of competitiveness and accountability. Memorial will keep its sights on getting back to another State Championship game. They understand every opponent is going to give them their best, and have a strong schedule to prepare them for a run in the state tournament again.
